Born and raise in Iowa, Shannon Burge grew up as an athlete, participating in basketball, cheerleading, and even track during her collegiate years. Through this involvement, she began to crave competition, understanding and observing that opposition bred personal growth for her both physically and mentally. Desiring to satiate her zealous nature after college, she then stumbled upon bodybuilding competitions which taught her discipline, the value of personal time, and the importance of her health. This outlet provided tangible goals for her fitness journey, and she has met these goals with great success, placing in the top five among hundreds of competitors at a national level showing.
While Shannon does personal training for clients and teaches many fitness courses, she likes to think of herself as a life coach. Everything that she has learned in fitness is applicable to personal goals. She believes if she can educate and motivate individuals to develop good habits in fitness such as healthy eating and regular exercise, the individuals she works with will then be able to apply this to other aspects of their lives. A firm believer in a balanced life, Shannon puts just as much effort into her workouts as she does cherishing the time with her friends, traveling, serving at her church, and volunteering in her free time.
Shannon is currently based out of Denver, Colorado, where she trains clients in person while also providing fitness services to individuals across the United States.
What is no defeat?
No Defeat was born from Shannon's love for fitness and for helping others in her community. To be a No Defeat Warrior is to be an individual who values teamwork, resilience, and giving back. There is nothing more important to Shannon than volunteering and helping others, so when she found a true passion in fitness after competing in her first fitness show in April of 2015, she knew immediately that fitness would have to be incorporated into her business. No Defeat is a true representation of Shannon's passions.
The company's name and logo was chosen to represent Charlie, Shannon's father, who passed away in 2012. He was an exemplar of the No Defeat Warrior and made a tremendous impact on her life. He was always a team player. He was an advocate for each individual's successes. He was resilient and dedicated, never missing a day of work for 25 years. Shannon even recalls a time when her father chose to walk miles in the rain and snow just to get to work. He preached to his children that the sky was the limit, encouraging them to do and be anything they wanted to become. He was relentless and never gave up. Shannon knew great love and support from her father, who supported all of her aspirations without a second thought.
No Defeat is dedicated to and in honor of Charlie, who will forever be a warrior in this movement and who will live on in all of its success.
